Do You See Yourself Looking For Addiction Recovery?

The worst thing a drug addict can convince themselves of is that they don?t need to get help from anyone or anywhere or that they don?t need help to get over their addiction. They truly believe that by asking for help in addiction recovery, that it somehow makes them appear weak. Although their addictions completely consume their lives, and although they may not be able to quit, they at least feel like they are able to control their addiction.  This line of thinking is unfortunate for the addict.  What they don?t realize is that they are working to pay for their addiction.  They are scheduling their lives around being high.  All their friends are people who use drugs with them.  Yes, it may appear to the person who is addicted to drugs that they are in control of their drug use. That is until they run out.  Rationalizing with a person that has run out drugs and can?t get any is difficult at best.  Even before actual withdrawal sets in they become moody at the prospect of not having it available when they need it.  Erratic behavior, nervousness, emotional outbursts, anger, sadness, it is all part of the short term separation of drugs.  Control over drugs is not something that an addicted person can ever have.

Addiction Help Is Here When You?re Ready

When it is time to get help for yourself or a loved one you want to ensure that you are going to receive the addiction help that is designed for the individual with the addiction and not a treatment program that is a one size fits all solution.  The addiction that is affecting your life is unique to you and addressing all aspects of addiction from the psychological to the physiological is absolutely necessary to being able to move forward. Complete eradication of all drugs from the body through the withdrawal and detox stages is of the utmost importance to living life free of drugs.
Often times rehab that deal with heroin rehabilitation will use another drug such as methadone to wean a person off of heroin, forming a new drug habit to replace the old.  The most effective long term solution to heroin addiction is through a heroin intervention that does not use replacement drugs.  Giving a person another drug to replace the old is enabling a person to continue abusing drugs and is not accomplishing the goal that was set forth.  Drug treatment programs that use a holistic, non medicinal approach to addiction recovery are drug treatment programs that work.
